Hey Tony... you were asking about ROTC/Flaggots/STP history info. I found this on Matt's page: http://flaggotsohio.org/background/Background.html That's got a timeline. (STP is actually 2007).

I see your photos of the Gold and Black Uniforms and it brings me back to the days I marched as a bass drummer 1967-1971 in a Drum & Bugle Corps called the South Boston Jays-Jays, From South Boston, Massachusetts. We also wore the exact same uniform and shakos. WoW!

My first view of the Drum & Bugle corps activity occurred when my Dad took me to my first National Dream in Jersey City when I was 6 years old - 1968.

The National Dream "always imitated, never duplicated" was a full day show that was split into two show segments: Junior corps and Senior corps. I remember being mesmerized by the big sound, the colors and the pageantry while the crowd at Roosevelt Stadium roared their approval and 'awed' when a marching member would faint on the field under a scrutinizing sun.

Dad continued taking me to the Dream for many years when at the ripe old age of 10 and being quite fortunate that we lived in Bayonne, NJ, I joined St.Andrew's Kidets. This being the breakthrough year for St.Andrew's Bridgemen, 1972. Saturday mornings I took the bus (without supervision) downtown to St.Andrew's where we were taught by Bob Holton and 'big' kids from Bridgemen how to march, and we did for hours upon hours in the gym. Afterwards we would break into our sections, I was in the percussion section playing cymbal and learning how to drum.
